Preparing Your Home for Summer

By Ashley Sandor

With Winter well and truly over, and Spring on its way out, the Sunshine Coast is beginning to heat up! Here are some handy hints to prepare your home for Summer…

Up the Airflow
Make sure you enjoy a breezy summer by turning your ceiling fan to counter-clockwise to push air downward and create a stronger airflow. Replace your air conditioner’s filter or have your central air professionally looked at.

Check the BBQ
Barbecues aren’t used often during winter, so before you have all your friends and family over for that lazy summer afternoon barbecue, make sure it’s working correctly and your gas bottle is full.

Wave Goodbye to Winter
Update your interior to introduce some fresh Summer vibes. Put away anything that evokes heat (blankets, candles, heavy rugs), and replace with fresh cut flowers, light linens and bright coloured homewares.

Get Party Ready
Make sure your blender is cocktail readyand that your cookbooks have the freshest summer recipes bookmarked. Invest in party-proof dishware, from serving trays to drinking glasses.

Let There Be Light
Get rid of winters grime by giving your windows and glass doors a thorough clean to let in the natural summer light! Once they are sparkling clean, your home will have an instant summery feel.

Add a Fresh Coat of Paint
If you feel like taking on a sweaty project, Summer is the perfect time to update your colour scheme. Add a pop of colour to walls, decks, doors, tables or chairs to enhanceboth the appeal and value of your home!
